“I was surprised there weren’t more people wearing masks since the theme was ‘Masquerade’, but the cheesecake was really good,” junior Stephanie Steven said. “The decorations could have been better though.”

This season, the track team has been breaking records for events that are not often competed in. Seniors Daniel Stuart and Emily Cook broke records for the hammer throw.

“Kapaun [Mt. Carmel] only has a student in the hammer throw one or two times a season,” coach Damian Smithhisler said.

Another event that is not often participated in is steeplechase. Juniors Katie Hand and Michael Huff broke the records for boys and girls steeplechase.

“It doesn’t look as hard as it is,” Hand said. “The event is five laps long and there are four barrier jumps and one water jump in each lap.”
